A hefty lineup of industry experts headline the 39th annual Impact Marketing Seminar, which will take palace March 18-19 at the Pierre Hotel in New York City.
Host Marvin Shanken expressed in a recent press release his anticipation about the upcoming seminar.
“This may be our most exciting program ever, as we’ve expanded our horizons to take a broad look at today’s marketing landscape,” Shanken said. “As usual, we expect that the Seminar will be sold out.”
The seminar’s headline speakers include a mix of digital mavens and industry experts: Jerry Yang, founder of Yahoo; Home Box Office Chairman and CEO Richard Plepler; Google Vice President of Customer Solutions Jim Lecinski; Foursquare CEO Dennis Crowley; Michael Clarke, CEO of Australia’s Treasury Wine Estates; Annette Alvarez-Peters, merchandising manager of Costco’s beverage and alcohol division; Diageo marketing and innovation boss Peter McDonough; and Tim Hassett, president of Beam Suntory North America.
The inclusion of leaders from a quartet of tech giants is indication of the wine and spirits industry’s hunger to gather and understand information about the purchasing habits and tastes of millennials and other tech-savvy buyers.
Yang’s seminar is titled, “The Future of Digital,” while Crowley’s presentation is titled “Understanding the Millennial Bar Experience.” Google whiz Lecinski will discuss, “Winning Beverage Consumers at the Zero Moment of Truth.”
The two-day seminar series will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, with a welcoming reception hosted by Moet Hennessy USA President and CEO Jim Clerkin. The location of the welcoming reception has yet to be announced.
The following day, registration will open at 7:30 a.m. Morning sessions will begin at 9 a.m. The seminars’ luncheon will begin at 12:30 p.m. The luncheon is scheduled to conclude at 3 p.m.
The lunch seminar will feature a yet-to-be-disclosed speaker. According to the events’ recent press release, past speakers have included well known political and military leaders.
“The special luncheon speaker on the day of the conference isn’t announced ahead of time,” the release said, “but speakers of the last few years have included David Petraeus, former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.”
Shanken’s Vice Chairman Michael Moaba and Executive Editor David Fleming will moderate the event.
